If you’re using an older version of the Upstox app, read this. 


We are sorry to know that you wish to close your account with us, and would like to ask you to reach customer care so we can try our best to solve your concern. However, should you still wish to go ahead and close your account, follow these steps:

 1)Login to the Upstox app with your Upstox username (6 digit UCC) and Password.

 2)Please click on the ‘Profile’ icon on the top left corner of the app. 

3)Click on ‘Name’ or ‘My Account’ displayed on the top left corner of your screen.

4)You will now be redirected to the Account page. Scroll down to the Account Closure section. Click ‘Close Account’.


5)After clicking on close account, it will redirect to the confirmation page. 


6)Click on the link generated if you would like to proceed with the account closure and you will be redirected to the closure page.


Note: If you decide not to proceed with the Account Closure, please click ‘keep my Upstox account’ and it will redirect you to the Account page. 

 

Also, keep in mind: You will receive a closure link URL through a SMS & email on the registered Mobile number. The link would be valid for a period of 30 days. 


 

7)The Account Closure Request page will appear. 

  • Please make sure you have zero holdings in your Demat account. You can either sell off your holdings or transfer them to a different Demat account. 
  • Any remaining funds will be credited to your primary linked Bank account


8)Please select the reason for closure by selecting from the drop down menu.

Once you enter all the information, the ‘Close Account’ button at the bottom will be activated.


Note: If you select the reason to close the account as “Others” then you will have to enter the description to proceed further.

 9)Click on Close Account. It will take 7 to 8 working days to close your Account after you submit the account closure request.

 

Note :


1. Selling Holdings:

If you presently have holdings in your account, you'd need to sell them before requesting for account closure and details with steps on how to sell them will be mentioned in the account closure link you would receive via sms. This link also has steps for selling holdings.

2. Clearing debit balance/pending dues:

If you presently have pending dues/debit balance, you'd need to clear the dues before requesting for account closure and details with steps on how to do the same are mentioned in the account closure link you would receive via sms. This link also has steps for adding funds to your account to clear off the pending dues.

3. Mutual Fund holdings

If you have any mutual fund holdings in your account, you’d need to redeem them before proceeding with account closure. This link has steps for how to redeem your Mutual Fund holdings.

4. Digi Gold Balance

If you have any Digital Gold holdings in your account, you’d need to sell them before proceeding with account closure. This link also has steps to sell your Digi Gold holdings

5Open Trade Position 

If you have any open trade positions in your account, please clear/square off your open trade positions before proceeding with account closure. This link has steps on how you can clear/square off your open trade positions.

1)Login to the Upstox app using your 6-digit Pin or Biometrics

2)Click on Avatar / Name initial on the top left corner of your screen.


3)Click ‘Account’ and then ‘Profile’.

 

 

4)Click on the ‘View all’ option next to ‘Account’.

 

5)Click the hamburger icon on the top left corner to open a side menu bar.

 

6)Click on the Account Closure option (at the bottom of the side menu bar).


7)Once you click on the Account closure, it will redirect you to the Closure segment. Click on the close account button.


8)You will be redirected to the confirmation page.

 


9)On the confirmation page, click on the link that’s generated if you want to proceed with the account closure. You will be redirected to the closure page.

 


Note

  • If you decide not to proceed with the Account closure then you have to click on ‘Keep my Upstox account’ and it will redirect you to the Account page.

10)  The Account Closure Request page will appear.

11) You will need to select the reason for closure by selecting from the drop down menu.
