If you’re using an older version of the Upstox app, read this.


When you open an Upstox account, the Equities segment and BSE Mutual Funds are activated by default. So, you can start investing and trading in them instantly. However other segments such as Futures & Options (F&O), Currencies (CUR), and Commodities segments (MCX), are optional. In order to activate them, you need to submit sufficient income proof because each of these segments has its own trading rules, timings, and products. 


Below is a step by step process of how to activate segments from the Upstox Mobile App:

Step 1: Login to the Upstox app using your 6-digit PIN or Biometrics.

Step 2: Once you log in, click on the menu in the top left corner.

Step 3: Click on 'Activate F&O, MCX'.

On the Upstox Android App, it will look like this -


Step 4: Click on ‘Activate Segment’ for the segment you want to activate.


Step 5: For MCX, you will also be asked to upload a live photo.


Step 6: Based on the value of your holdings, you will be asked to upload income proof.


  • If your holding is more than ₹5000/- neither of the documents are required.

  • If your holding is less than ₹5000/- you have to submit the require documents.





Step 7: Sign your documents via eSign if mobile & Aadhaar are linked with the following steps in below order:

  • Click on the ‘E-Sign’ button




  • Next you will be redirected to the confirmation page, verify the details. Then click on ‘Sign Now’.


  •  You will then be redirected to the confirmation page, where you have to click on the checkbox and accept the ‘Terms of service’ and click on ‘Proceed to eSign’



  • After clicking on ‘Proceed to eSign’ you will be redirected to the NSDL website where you need to enter your Aadhaar number and tick on the checkbox. Next, click on ‘Send OTP’.





  • You will receive an OTP on the Aadhar linked mobile number.



  • Enter the OTP and click on ‘Verify OTP’





  • Once you verify the OTP, you will be able to view the ‘Signed Successfully’ confirmation page. Do not close this window, it will close automatically.

 


Step 8: Once your request has been placed successfully, it will take about 24-48 working hours for the segments to get activated. We will update you via email/SMS regarding the status of your request.

 

Note: In the following two cases, the eSign step is not needed. You just need to upload the necessary income proof and your request will be placed:

 

  • If you have submitted your consent to activate F&O while opening your Upstox account.

  • If your segment activation request has been rejected previously and you wish to resubmit your request.

If you’re using the new Upstox app, read this. 


To activate these segments, simply follow the below steps:


Step 1: Login to the Upstox app using your 6-digit PIN or Biometrics.

Step 2: Once you login, click on ‘Account’.


Step 3: Click on ‘My Account’


 

Step 4: Click on ‘Profile’



Step 5: Click ‘My trading segment’ under ‘Profile’. You will be redirected to the segment activation page. 


Step 6: Click on ‘Enable segment’ for the segment you want to activate.



Step 7: For MCX, you will also be asked to upload a live photo.



Step 8: You can upload any one of the documents as shown in the screenshot below.



Step 9: After selecting the income proof document you wish to upload, click on ‘Continue’.

Step 11: After the document is uploaded, review your document and click on ‘Continue’.



Step 12: eSign your document by clicking on ‘eSign (Recommended)’. This can be done only if your Aadhaar is linked to your mobile number. Sign your documents via eSign if mobile & Aadhaar are linked with the following steps:



  • You will be redirected to validate the eSign. Click on ‘ESIGN NOW’.

    

  • Now you will be redirected to the confirmation page, verify the details and click on ‘Sign Now’.


  •  You will now be redirected to the confirmation page, where you have to click on the checkbox and accept the ‘Terms of service’ and click on ‘Proceed to eSign’.


  • After clicking on ‘Proceed to eSign’ you will be redirected to the NSDL website for the following:


1.Enter your Aadhaar number

2.Tick on the checkbox 

3.Click on ‘Send OTP’



  •  You will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar linked mobile number.    


  • Enter the OTP and click ‘Verify OTP’.        

  • Once you verify the OTP, you will be able to view the ‘Signed Successfully’ confirmation page. Do not close the window, it will close automatically.

         

Step 13: Once your request has been placed successfully, it will take about 24-48 working hours for the segments to get activated. We will update you over email / SMS about the status of your request.
