All you need to get a BHIM ID is a smartphone and a bank account. Firstly, register your mobile number with your bank and link a debit card to your account. You are now ready to download the BHIM app from the Playstore or AppStore.

Once you have installed the BHIM app, check out these steps:

  1. Select the preferred Language
  2. Allow the app to send a SMS to verify your number.
  3. After successful verification, you will be able to see the home page.
  4. In case the attempt was unsuccessful, you will get an OTP in 45 seconds.
  5. Enter the OTP and wait for successful verification. Your registration will only be complete once the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) recognizes your mobile number and handset.

Upon successful registration, a default ID, referred to as Virtual Payment Address (VPA), will be generated (i.e., mobilenumber@upi). Additionally, you have the option to add another VPA from the profile section.
